Comment apprivoiser une mante religieuse

S’assurer que la proie vivante ne s’échappe pas de l’enclos. Inspectez le compartiment à la recherche de grandes ouvertures et d’endroits où un petit insecte proie pourrait s’échapper. Pulvérisez de l’eau dans le boîtier au moins une fois par jour pour maintenir son humidité. Le substrat absorbera la majeure partie de l’eau et la relâchera lentement dans l’enceinte pour maintenir le taux d’humidité. Le boîtier est trop humide lorsque vous pouvez voir de la brume sur les côtés, et il n’est pas a! ssez humide si le substrat n’est pas visiblement humide.

Nourrissez-le d’insectes vivants tous les 1 à 4 jours, tombés directement dans l’enclos. Selon l’espèce de mante, elle devra être nourrie quotidiennement ou tous les deux ou trois jours. Si vous n’êtes pas sûr de l’espèce, consultez un guide d’identification de la mante et découvrez à quelle fréquence elle se nourrit.

Continuez à le faire chaque jour jusqu’à ce qu’il cesse d’être sur la défensive et d’avoir peur autour de vous. Il faudra un certain temps avant que la mante ne soit prête à vous faire confiance et à cesser d’agir défensivement autour d’une créature plus grande. Surveillez la mante chaque jour et interagissez régulièrement avec elle pour renforcer le sentiment de respect entre vous et l’insecte. Vous aurez gagné un certain niveau de confiance quand ! la mante religieuse n’essaiera pas de vous échapper et cessera d’être agressive.

Décorez l’espace avec des brindilles, des fleurs et des objets sur lesquels grimper. Les mantises aiment errer et grimper, alors donnez-lui beaucoup d’obstacles à manÅ"uvrer dans sa fermeture. Des objets comme le bois mort, les branches, les roseaux, le bambou, les fleurs en plastique et autres objets similaires sont parfaits pour la mante et rendront l’enclos plus attrayant visuellement.

Prévoyez des proies qui se déplacent rapidement pour stimuler votre mante. Les mantes préfèrent chasser les insectes qui se déplacent rapidement et de façon erratique plutôt que ceux qui sont lents et qui aiment se cacher. Comme la chasse peut prendre beaucoup de temps, si la proie trouve un endroit pour se cacher ou se déplace particulièrement lentement, il est peu probable que la mante s’y intéresse.

Nettoyer le boîtier une fois par semaine pour s’assurer qu’a! ucune moisissure ne se développe dans le substrat. Placez votre mante ! dans un compartiment séparé pendant que vous nettoyez et gardez un Å"il dessus. Retirer le support et les décorations. Utilisez régulièrement de l’eau du robinet pour essuyer les côtés et le fond du boîtier avant de remplacer le substrat et les décorations.

Utilisez une enceinte qui est difficile à échapper d’au moins 3 fois la taille de la mante. Votre enclos devrait être 3 fois la longueur de la mante en largeur, longueur et hauteur au minimum pour lui donner assez d’espace pour muer et se déplacer pour chasser. Veillez à choisir un boîtier avec un couvercle sûr. Utilisez une enceinte munie d’un couvercle pour empêcher les proies de s’échapper.

Utilisez une lampe chauffante pour maintenir le boîtier à environ 24 °C (75 °F) et n’utilisez pas de lumière vive. Vous devriez utiliser une lampe chauffante placée au-dessus du boîtier pour maintenir la température à 75 °F (24 °C), ou utiliser un tapis chauffant placé sous la m! oitié du substrat pour réguler la température. Les lumières vives ne doivent pas être utilisées pour éviter d’éblouir la mante religieuse, mais il est bon de garder son enceinte dans le salon ou dans un endroit exposé à la lumière normale.
