Marcellus Yoshimori: For elementary education you can teach all subjects but for secondary and university education you have to choose a subject and get your certification in that subject. If you want to teach history you will major in history while taking the teaching history degree option. This will make you take many hours of history classes to give you a well rounded education in history. I hope that makes sense.
Von Houskeeper: Teacher credentials are subject to state and local school board rules. You'd have to look into the requirements for the place and school you want to each in. Some of these rules are odd at best.
Eldridge Rieves: u get the teaching degree 1st with a minor in history.remember do it as much on cash as possiblecause teaching is not "profitable $$" career.it is one u do cause u "love" it.10 - 20 years of debt makes no sense....Show more
Bailey Lares: The answer depends on the requirements of the state in which you want to teach. ! It would be very unusual to be able to teach a high school subject without at least a minor in it. In California you would need the history major and a fifth year of higher education during which you earned a secondary school teaching credential.
