How would i go about getting a job in a preschool?

Wilbert Shellgren: Okay, well I am a Program Director for a pre-school and licensed school-age program. Yes, your ECE degree will assist you greatly in obtaining a job in an organized pre-school program. The ECE degree will assist in better pay and benefits. A great way is to go to childcare resources website in your city and there are job listings posted. The craigslist also has job listings for pre-school programs under the education category....Show more

Lulu Bukowiecki: Yes, it will help you that you are going to school in this field. Many preschools will want you to be on their sub list before they will hire you on their staff. Call the preschools in the area you want to work in and ask if they have openings and how to apply. If they tell you they need subs, that is a good way to get started. You will need letters of recommendation from people who can honestly state that you are suited for this type of work. They could be from your professors, or from a! dministrators or staff or parents the you have worked with in the past. You will also need your clearances, but these vary from one location to another so you will need to find out what is required in your area. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to use the new information you are learning in school, and you will have class requirements that must actually be fulfilled working in a classroom. Also, experience is one of the best sources of instruction you can get in this field, so I encourage you to follow up on this! Get started making those phone calls and let the preschools in your area help you get what you need to get started....Show more
