Home theater system for under $1000?

Zelma Casebier: Since you have the display. I suggest my system Infinity Beta 20(2)http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=b...Infinity Beta 250http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=b...Panasonic SA HE100 6.1 (any 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 receiver from denon, Yamaha, marantz, Panasonic, or onkyo will do the job.)http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPa...Kef HTS 200.1(3) you can use others I got these of Craigslist for 40 dollars each! http://reviews.cnet.com/separate-speakers/kef-hts-...Dayton SUB-120 HT Series 12" 150 Watt Powered Subwooferhttp://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partn...Speaker Wirehttp://www.antonline.com/p_Acoustic-Research--AP-1...The speakers are excellent, but the KEFs I got for a great price so you probably will want to look at the Beta 10s for rear speakers. For the receiver you may consider a HK 247 of craigslist or an Onkyo 606 I got my receiver of ebay for a good price. Don't get the other speakers for the dayton beca! use you will shorting yourself.Oh and a PS3 is media center. FYI my system cost less than 500 via ebay and craigslist so look around you may just find a great deal....Show more

Agustina Stimmel: I would wait on a blu-ray player for now. Go to partsexpress.com for the dayton home theater speaker set. You get a sub with them. Get a Pioneer,Onkyo,Yamaha reciever. Dont buy monster wire for your stuff. RIP OFF big time. Ther are cables on parts express that do the same job. Take your time and look around. Dont buy a theater in a box what ever you do. Do your research. Good luck.

Clinton Migliori: I suggest.. Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX589W 5.1-Channel Theater System

Melissa Lavallie: This is all you need:http://www.amazon.com/Best-Hi-Def-Home-Theater-Bud...With a $1,000 budget there is no reason to go with anything but Blu-ray. Which player you get depends on what you would use it for. If you will only watch movies, then go with the Panasonic DMP-BD35 ($250). It's t! he best value stand-alone player currently available and winne! r of cnet's editor's choice award. Costco has it for $230 ($280 and a $50 off coupon). If you think you might play video games or wish to view pictures, music or videos currently stored on your computer, then consider purchasing the Sony Playstation 3 ($400).http://reviews.cnet.com/best-blu-ray-players/?tag=...Now you need a home theater sound system. You have a couple of options here--buy one in a box or assemble your own. I went with the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver ($350) and a 5.1 speaker system, the RM6750 from Polk Audio ($175). If you want to buy a home theater in a box (HTIB) I'd go with a receiver-based system rather than a player-based system because they have better connection and expansion options. A good receiver-based HTIB is Onkyo's HT-S6100 ($600-$700).http://www.us.onkyo.com/prod_class.cfm?class=Syste...http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=onkyo+ht-...Don't forget the cables and a power strip. You'll need 3 HDMI cables and speaker cables too. Monopri! ce.com and Amazon both have HDMI cables for under $10. (Avoid the over-priced Monster cables.) For speaker cables I recommend you set everything up and take measurements for how long the cables need to be. Then go to Lowe's and buy it cut to order at $0.50/foot.So you see you have some great options here. For under $1,000 you can have a great high definition home theater system....Show more
