If you do it yourself with store bought dye, it has a greater chance of becoming damaged. Either way, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to help protect it after the dye.I've been getting my hair dyed for years by professionals and it's just as good as before. No damage at all. Elden Bardach: dying and putting chemicals into your hair too much can cause excessive damage. shedding may occur as dead ends can too. don't do it too much, make sure when you do dye your hair it's a color you really want so you stick with it. only dye your hair up to 3 times a year.
Cliff Jacoby: not only frizzy my dear. The chemicals used in even semi-permanent hair dye can do really bad damage. And there are also worst case scenarios where a person is allergic to a chemical in the dye! and their scalp becomes really gross OR even greater permanent damage.I think the damage to your hair is around the equivalent of using a hairstraightener to straighten ur hair w/o protective ANYTHING for at least half a year everyday. No conditioning/protection etc. So, SOME brands do less damage than others, but all dye damages the skin. Leisa Brodnex: the latest products these days are so advanced that they have even created hair dyes that dont damage your hair. some hair dyes can even improve the hair condition. for example, loreal diacolor and wella color touch - these products fade or wash out after 28 washes so if your not happy! with your colour you'll know that its at least going to come ! out
