Ulysses Failey: I'm going to really sound corny here, but the answer is love. Everything happens because of love, lack of love, needing love, wanting love, feeling love, being overwhelmed with love. Beauty is love. When someone says you look beautiful, they love the way you look. When someone says you're beautiful- they love you.

Eli Trapeni: beauty is the human illusion that one thing is more attractive that something else. in other words, all our lives we have been raised being told the entire time that things are beautiful, or very hideous. beauty is also an illusion of worth. people tend to be superficial, so they will value the outside appearance of one thing over the outside appearance of another, and therefore value the enitre thing more.no matter how much people try to deny that they are superficial, we are all superficial by nature, so there is absolutely no denying that we are.definition of beauty in the dictionary: the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.since pleasure is just an illusion of one thing being more appealing than another, this might as well prove what I said....Show more
Nedra Oltz: A Common dictionary definition of truth mentions some fo! rm of fact or reality. There is, however, no "true" singular definition! of truth, which scholars agree about. Different opinions exist on such questions as what constitutes truth, how to define and identify truth, what roles do revealed and acquired knowledge play, and whether truth is subjective, relative, objective, or absolute. This paper introduces the various perspectives, claims, and so calls truths. There are many Questions about what is a proper basses, on which to decide whether and to what extent words, symbols, ideas and beliefs may be said to be true. Whether itâs true for a single person or an entire community or society, there are Many more important questions addressed by the theories introduced in this paper The major philosophical theories The Constructivist theory is composed of a Main article: Constructivist epistemology Social constructivism says that truth is constructed by a social process and is historically and culturally specific, as well as in part shaped through the power struggles within a community. Meaning that ! each of us have a different view of truth based on where and when we are in society Constructivism views all of our knowledge as "constructed," because it does not reflect any external "transcendent" realities. Rather, perceptions of truth are viewed as human conventions, human perception, and social experience. It is believed by constructivists that representations of physical and biological reality, including race, sexuality, and gender are socially constructed. Giambattista Vico was among the first to claim that history and culture were man-made. Vices gather the most diverse rays and unfold in one "truth itself is constructed." A Karl Marx was among the other early proponents of the premise that truth is socially constructed. Foucault Michel Foucault (1926 â" 1984) Truth, for Michel Foucault, is problematic when any attempt is made to see truth as an "objective" quality. He prefers not to use the term truth itself but "Regimes of Truth". In his historical investigation! s he found truth to be something that was itself a part of, or embedded! within, a given power structure. Truth for Foucault is also something that shifts through various episteme throughout history.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constructivist_episte... Consensus theory Consensus theory stats that truth is whatever are agreed upon, or in some versions, might come to be agreed upon, by some specified group. The consensus theory is often used as an accounting of the concept of "truth and some philosophers maintains that truth is what would be agreed upon in an ideal speech situation. Correspondence theory Correspondence theories claim that true beliefs and true statements correspond to the actual state of affairs.[5] This type of theory attempts to posit a relationship between thoughts or statements on the one hand, and things or objects on the other. It is a traditional model which goes back at least to some of the classical Greek philosophers. This class of theories holds that the truth or the falsity of a representation is determined in princip! le solely by how it relates to objective reality, by whether it accurately describes that reality. Correspondence theory traditionally operates on the assumption that truth is a matter of accurately copying "objective reality" and then representing it in thoughts, words and other symbols. More modern theorists have stated that this ideal cannot be achieved independently of some analysis of additional factors. For example, language plays a role in that all languages have words that are not easily translatable into another. The German word Zeitgeist is one such example: one who speaks or understands the language may "know" what it means, but any translation of the word fails to accurately capture its full meaning. (This is a problem with many abstract words, especially those derived in other languages). Thus, the language itself adds an additional parameter to the construction of an accurate truth predicate. Some philosophers grappled with this problem .Pragmatic theory The t! hree most influential forms of the pragmatic theory of truth were intro! duced around the turn of the 20th century by Charles Peirce, William James, and John Dewey. Although there are wide differences in viewpoint among these and other proponents of pragmatic theory, they hold in common that truth is verified and confirmed by the results of putting one's concepts into practice. Peirce defines truth as follows: "Truth is that concordance of an abstract statement with the ideal limit towards which endless investigation would tend to bring scientific belief, which concordance the abstract statement may possess by virtue of the confession of its inaccuracy and one-sidedness, and this confession is an essential ingredient of truth." This statement emphasizes Peirce's view that ideas of approximation, incompleteness, and partiality, what he describes elsewhere as fallibilism and "reference to the future", are essential to a proper conception of truth. Although Peirce uses words like concordance and correspondence to describe one aspect of the pragmati! c sign relation, he is also quite explicit in saying that definitions of truth based on mere correspondence are no more than nominal definitions, which he accords a lower status than real definitions. William James's version of pragmatic theory, while complex, is often summarized by his statement that "the 'true' is only the expedient in our way of thinking, just as the 'right' is only the expedient in our way of behaving." By this, James meant that truth is a quality the value of which is confirmed by its effectiveness when applying concepts to actual practice (thus, "pragmatic"). John Dewey, less broadly than James but more broadly than Peirce, held that inquiry, whether scientific, technical, sociological, philosophical or cultural, is self-corrective over time if openly submitted for testing by a community of inquirers in order to clarify, justify, refine and/or refute proposed truthsAn ancient criterion of truth, the consensus gentium (Latin: agreement of the people), ! states "that which is universal among men carries the weight of truth" ! (Ferm, 64). A number of consensus theories of truth are based on variations of this principle. In some criteria the notion of universal consent is taken strictly, while others qualify the terms of consensus in various ways. There are versions of consensus theory in which the specific population weighing in on a given question, the proportion of the population required for consent, and the period of time needed to declare consensus vary from the classical norm.[edit] Consensus as a regulative idealA descriptive theory is one that tells how things are, while a normative theory tells how things ought to be. Expressed in practical terms, a normative theory, more properly called a policy, tells agents how they ought to act. A policy can be an absolute imperative, telling agents how they ought to act in any case, or it can be a contingent directive, telling agents how they ought to act if they want to achieve a particular goal. A policy is frequently stated in the form of a piece! of advice called a heuristic, a maxim, a norm, a rule, a slogan, and so on. Other names for a policy are a recommendation and a regulative principle.A regulative ideal can be expressed in the form of a description, but what it describes is an ideal state of affairs, a condition of being that constitutes its aim, end, goal, intention, or objective. It is not the usual case for the actual case to be the ideal case, or else there would hardly be much call for a policy aimed at achieving an ideal.Corresponding to the distinction between actual conditions and ideal conditions there is a distinction between actual consensus and ideal consensus. A theory of truth founded on a notion of actual consensus is a very different thing from a theory of truth founded on a notion of ideal consensus. Moreover, an ideal consensus may be ideal in several different ways. The state of consensus may be ideal in its own nature, conceived in the matrix of actual experience by way of intellectual o! perations like abstraction, extrapolation, and limit formation. Or the ! conditions under which the consensus is conceived to be possible may be formulated as idealizations of actual conditions. A very common type of ideal consensus theory refers to a community that is an idealization of actual communities in one or more respects.[edit] Critique of consensus theoriesIt is very difficult to find any philosopher of note who asserts a bare, naive, or pure consensus theory of truth, in other words, a treatment of truth that is based on actual consensus in an actual community without further qualification. Bare consensus theories are frequent topics of discussion, however, evidently because they serve the function of reference points for the discussion of alternative theories.

Torrie Weissenbach: A persons positive outlooks on life, and what can be found within the minds eye/imagination:I have often wondered to myself what it would be like to be in Heaven, and I have come up with a very interesting image of it!!Now imagine yourself materializing into another realm/plain of existence beyond what we can detect in our mortal reality. When entering (Naturally as an angel), you feel totally weightless (With no pressure any! where not even on your feet as if you are freely levitating in outer-space with total control over where you want to go "knowing that no harm of any kind will ever come to you", and being able to move at any speed, in any direction you wish, with still feeling no pressure). You then feel an infinite number of different emotions that are so mysterious and beautiful that are far beyond anything that we can even begin to imagine in our mortal realm. You then realize that you are totally cleaned of all evil thoughts, pain, etc. You also feel as if you are made entirely of the tingling sensation (A lot like the one you get when your foot's asleep), and feeling as if their is an infinite number of beams of pure white light going through your entire spiritual essence from all angles at all times. This would make one feel truly free/refreshed throughout every fiber of their spiritual being. Also being able to experience a countless number of nothing but awe inspiring sounds, positi! ve/enlightening thoughts, sights/images, emotions, etc. Then you realiz! e that you are hearing, seeing, etc, a complex mixture of all the positive/heavenly experiences of everyone their (Including yourself), so that every angel truly knows each others positives inside and out, without question (Both from their mortal lives and lives they are living in heaven). The visual sights/environment in Heaven would be a mixture of every ones positive experiences, thoughts and so on with everyone having true 360 vision (Sights/images beyond our mortal imaginations I am sure). You then feel as if you are truly a part of an infinite all knowing knowledge (Truly without question, being at one with God and everyone else their), feeling as if you are a part of a truly loving/pure, ever expanding consciousness (One massive mind of seemingly never ending knowledge that is continuously growing). Within this realm/Heaven everyone their will feel truly 100% whole/cleansed for all time...Is this what Heaven is really like??!!!...I guess only time will tell.......Can! people make their dreams/visions a reality?!!For the most part, I would have to say YES!!After all, several inventions and ideas were dreamed up and made into reality by many imaginative/innovative people (Quite a few who saw life differently then others, who continued onward no matter HOW many times their attempts failed, no matter HOW many times other people mocked them and tried to put them down-THANKFULLY they continued onward and emerged triumphant through it all so that quite a few people now have many marvels and wonders to behold, thanks to them). WONDERS that would have been far beyond peoples expectation even a couple hundred years ago, and if they were to look at all the marvels of our world today, most if not all from that era would be left with feelings of total AWE, WONDER, and even HORROR (Which I TRULY believe will not be the case a couple hundred years or so from now, since EVEN through it all, I believe enough people will STAND UP for themselves. Like tho! se many people who THROUGHOUT history have CHANGED the face of the worl! d in which we now live-who I admire to NO END, since they STOOD UP for what they believed in and TRULY made a difference to do their SHEER PASSION and DETERMINATION. I am INCREDIBLY confidant that even though there are SEVERAL horrific things going on in our era, that with SHEER PASSION and DETERMINATION we WILL make it through this so that ALL future generations will live in a TRULY united world where differences are ACCEPTED and even EMBRACED, so that NO ONE will EVER have to live in fear, no one will EVER have to live with DISEASE, HUNGER and so on, with ALL the horrors of the past being NOTHING but distant memories. A WORLD that would leave the people of today in TOTAL AWE, WONDER, and TRULY bring tears of joy to our eyes). People THROUGHOUT HISTORY have made MARVELOUS ACHIEVEMENTS that have TRULY changed the world that we live in. I will list but a few of the UNBELIEVABLE amount of wonders that have come from the INGENIOUS imaginations/thoughts, etc of some of these pe! ople that have made their ways into our lives; The wheel, Telephone, Light bulb, Television, Computers/Internet, Video games (YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!), many amazingly delicious, mouth watering foods/beverages (Bet I'm making you ALL quite hungry right about now!!), etc that have changed OUR lives!!Not to mention beautiful/innovative speeches, poems/poetry, books/novels, music, art and so on that have YET AGAIN been created by several people who have ACTED upon their DREAMS and VISIONS and came through it ALL with VIBRANT colours and have TRULY opened the HEARTS and MINDS of COUNTLESS people throughout HISTORY, the present, and yes the future as well (Embrace PEACE, LOVE, and UNDERSTANDING for a BETTER TOMORROW!!).If ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE has ANY visions/ideas that can help bring forth a BETTER LIFE (PEACE, LOVE, and UNDERSTANDING) for themselves, and others, then WORK TOWARD THESE VISIONS/IDEAS AND SO ON NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS TELL YOU AND NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY TRY TO PUT ! YOU DOWN!!!!!!! VISIONS and IDEAS are what have bought SO MUCH UNDERSTA! NDING, AND WONDERS INTO OUR LIVES that our dreams MUST BE ACTED UPON, so I urge ALL OF YOU to reach for the stars and beyond, SUPPORTING OTHERS and HELPING those with BRILLIANT, IMAGINATIVE IDEAS (Even if they may seem odd) so that we can ALL move forward and create a world of TRUE AWE AND WONDER FOR MANKIND, the CREATURES, PLANTS AND PLANET ITS-SELF (I have SEVERAL helpful tips that are LITERALLY just a click away which will be GREAT for our planet!! I urge ALL of you who are wanting a better life, STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN!!!!!!!, DEFEND AND COMFORT THOSE WHO ARE BEING ABUSED, MISUNDERSTOOD, AND MISTREATED. After all, there are FAR MORE KIND HEATER PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD t! hen there are cruel ones, so for those of you with KINDNESS, GET TOGETHER AS A GROUP WHEN YOU SEE OTHERS WHO NEED A HELPING HAND, OR JUST SIMPLY NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO, AND COMFORT THEM AND PROTECT THE INNOCENT FROM THOSE FEW THAT TRY TO PUT THEM DOWN!!!!!!! TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG, and TOGETHER we will make an AMAZING FUTURE with SEVERAL POSITIVE CHANGES creating a NEVER ENDING SUPPLY of LOVE, PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING FOR US ALL!! LET us strive to make these changes so that they can take effect even in OUR lifetimes. KEEP UP THE FAITH, and NEVER, I mean NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS, TURN TO OTHERS FOR COMFORT AND FOR SUPPORT ("ALL FOR ONE, and ONE FOR ALL" as the Musketeers would say!!), and we WILL EMERGE THROUGH THIS LIFE, TRIUMPHANT, making future generations look upon this era with PRIDE and NEVER ENDING GRATITUDE (For what we WILL accomplish!!). Let us ALL set a SOLID foundation so that ALL future generations may build upon it!!I believe that in the distant future (Aro! und a thousand years or so from now-Perhaps even sooner then that) this! will all lead to a world that is SOOOO WONDERFUL and AWE INSPIRING that it will TRULY be BEYOND, ANY OF OUR GREATEST IMAGINATIONS, VISIONS and HOPES!!So I can say FULL HEARTILY that YES I believe that for those who believe in THEIR DREAMS, AS WELL AS BELIEVING IN THE DREAMS OF OTHERS, AND ACTING UPON THEM, that THEY along with embracing PEACE, LOVE, and UNDERSTANDING, that they and us will be the MAIN driving force for an ever so WONDERFUL future.SO MARCH FORWARD, be sure to SPREAD the word to as many people as possible, and CONTINUE TO REACH FOR THE STARS AND BEYOND so that we may ALL live in a world of NEVER ENDING BEAUTY, WONDER AND MARVELS!!I have lots of info that I think you will find quite helpful and enlightening:http://ecowellness.multiply.com/ for excellent inspirational info within my blog to help not only our world and its creatures, but to also open peoples hearts and minds to many amazing wonders that life has to offer. Lou Ravelo: Beauty is assimilated in several ways. There's intrinsic (physiological) and extrinsic (environmental) factors to consider, whenever a beautiful experience is at hand. Intrinsic factors may be one's alertness, lucidity and overall state of health. Extrinsic factors include colors, shapes, textures, smells, etc. - all of which when checked by the cortex (br! ain's higher processing center) prompt cascading sensations of euphoria! . The initial effects of this most exhilarating event, are then transported to the hippocampus and amygdala (brain's memory centers) for storage and retrieval. After effects of such stimulus, vary from immediate, volitional recall of said experience, like trying to burn-in your head the image or experience that you've just enjoyed very much, to tingling of the limbs and autonomic motor reactions, like raising of your hairs and increased heart rate.
