free public transportation?

Lourie Mcroberts: I can only talk about Britain where the elderly and disabled get free travel on local bus services, not long distance bus services or trains

Chris Rosenkranz: public transit is a great thought, i agree. not purely is it good for the ecosystem and international warming, yet think of of what share injuries and site visitors we would be scuffling with!!! plus i definitly think of extremely some human beings could be into it, b/c all of us know it somewhat is this style of soreness to pay gasoline/diesel costs, and why pay on your guy or woman motor vehicle and purchase one once you may desire to easily leap on the Metro or something? it would be sooo valuable! :D...Show more

Kate Baune: benefits: you don't have to pay when you take city transportation. cons: someone has to pay. This means that it will come out of the city budget, which is replenished by taxes. Either taxes will have to go up, or other city services will have to go down. Limita! tions: free city transportation cannot be as extensive as the service in say NY or Chicago. The sheer volume of people who are hired to maintain, work, drive, etc. each service is huge. Free public transportation would have to be considerably limited because there is no way without some revenue to keep all the vehicles and people required....Show more

Estrella Northway: It's called a bike!!! Get one!!!

Emeline Albracht: What's free about paying the people who work the transpo or build the train cars & buses? Seriously, there's been so much political smoke & mirrors work in the last century that the true costs of many things in life are hidden and unknown to most people. Politicians like to say that passenger and commuter rail is "subsidized" while saying that airports, airlines and roads are "investments". It's almost to the point where these terms have lost their meanings. Also, because of subsidizing roads and suburban sprawl, many areas of the country d! on't have the population density anymore to make public or pri! vate mass transit viable without subsidies. I myself like the option of having mass transit (whether public or private). I can drink beers and not worry about DUI. I can read while commuting. I can talk on my phone or go online. I'm willing to pay for these things. But we should have a choice and know the real costs of all options....Show more

Hipolito Rightmire: TANSTAAFLThere is not such thing as "free public transportation." Someone has to pay.

Spencer Heidtbrink: It's not free where I live ; it costs 75 cents per ride. If you have to transfer onto another bus - you pay another 75 cents.
