How much does it cost to ship freight? (Trucking vs Rail)?

Azzie Trembly: Rail is cheaper then the Truck(roadway). But in railway we have collect products(Items/goods) from dock, and in the truck(roadway) most of the image they can load-down products(Items/goods) at the given address..!!!Hence if you want to save time then go for truck only(this is my suggestion)..

Sammy Tabatt: Ship By Train

Tawny Grosskreutz: Rail might be cheaper, but trucking would almost certainly get it there quicker, especially that last mile or so to the warehouse.

Emerita Sciandra: Well if you're a truck driver you already know that rail is much more efficient and much cheaper than shipping by truck. However in all ethical and economical standpoints the rails cannot compete with trucks when it comes to time. And in all reality it doesn't matter it HAS to be put on a truck at some point in time. Overall last time I'd heard you could ship a 20 or 40 ft box car don't remember which it was but either way you could ship that cross country b! y rail for about $500 or so. Now then it'd take 6 months to get there but it'd be a lot cheaper than trucking it cross country to the tune of about 10 grand. Overall Dallas to chi town is a what $4000 load on a 53 reefer something like that. Its much cheaper by rail but being a fellow truck driver I'd rather see it on a truck no matter what the cost. Far as I'm concerned I'll ship something by rail when hell freezes over. I hate the railroad always have always will....Show more
