need technical help to upgrade my car audio system?

Clinton Migliori: can someone also help on:rms?pmpo?ohms?and what they do or work on a car audio system?thanks....Show more

Toshiko Reimers: Well just so you understand my jibbering, i'm calling the car speakers treble and the subs bass. For starters you have to make sure that if your going to hook your trebles up to an amp, you need to make sure your rms ratings for both treble and amp are at a decent match otherwise you could risk blowing your speakers if its too high and want to be heard so we won't worry about the low rated rms amps. You also need to make sure your battery can take it because your running two amps, thats alot off batt juice. Or you can get an amp and sub and just by a very good radio with alot of wattage output power, but then again watch out for rms ratings your radio basicall counts as a smaller version of an amp....Show more

Charissa Riley: I suggest walking into a audio store and hittin up one of their installers, though they tend to t! ry to sell you **** you don't need. I would recommended two amps: 1 four channel for your speakers, and 1 mono/two channel for your sub/subs. Your midrange+tweets package should come with passive crossovers for you. Capacitors are like a band aid, you don't really need one unless you messed something up. Power blocks and ground blocks should come with your amp install wiring kit. As for the big 3, you probably won't notice a difference unless you get very expensive amps and subs that can push a lot of power. RMS is the root mean squared of the power, an easy way to think of it is "average" power. When shopping, installing, or anything else always look at the RMS ratings never the peak power ratings. Ohms is basically a measure of how much of a resistance your speakers provide. Pretty much all amps are 4 ohm stable (and most speakers are 4 ohm), but some can go lower even as low as .5 ohm stable (again these are super expensive, and only professionals should install them). H! ope this helps, good luck!...Show more

Jed Mutone: i rec! ommend u get a 4 ch amp. something that could dish like 75w x 4. that enables u 2 channels for front components or new audio gadget and bridge the different 2 channels for like 3 hundred-400w rms right into a sub. something like a Boston G2, jl w0- u can get 2, u'll want an amp wiring equipment as properly. 4 gauge a minimum of.
