Hobert Dula: No. One will ever understand the path you chose. When i wanted to no one belived me. But if they did they would wonder why bevause they care about me. with out meat they thought that i would grow weak and unhealthy. That is they same way they feel for you. The care about you. they all love you. They don't want you to grow weak. Grow unhealthy, and to not even opena door. but they soon will get used to the idea and love you and care for you like they did before you made that choice. give it time. They could have been just shocked by the idea. Don't worry. It will grow on them. Just as long as you are happy they should be happy too....Show more
Hilde Heskett: Multivitamin and B12 daily. B12 is the most important thing for vegans and vegetarians, because the most common place to get it from is cows (meat and milk), but unfortunately, the meat and milk aren't generally very good for you given the conditions the animals are raised in. I get by b12 from enric! hed rice milk.I am vegan and don't take any protein, iron or calcium supplements. I get everything I need by cooking with nuts, beans, broccoli and spinach, and enriched non-dairy beverages. Things like burritos and chili are very tasty, filling and nutritious. Even hummus and crackers makes a very healthy and delicious snack!Remember that being vegan is about including foods, not just excluding them. Get a book for becoming vegetarian and if you really think about what you're eating, you're probably going to end up getting way more protein and iron than most people do, but without the fats and hormones in mass-produced meat products.Lots and lots of people who eat meat and dairy already have vitamin deficiencies. It's all about being conscious of what you need and what you are getting when you eat, which most people are not. I am very physically active and healthy. I am a figure model and people always ask me what I do to work out because my muscles are so defined. I don't! even work out, I am literally just active in general and eat ! good food. My roommate is also vegan and is an athlete... he's incredibly strong. Being vegetarian or vegan is very enriching and in no way a loss. After a little while, you won't even need to think about it anymore.Good luck! :)...Show more
Margy Sandquist: I went without a supplement, and i was perfect and still am. If you are having dairy and eggs, there is not much you are going to lack with, just have a varied diet with everything you need. Tofu etc. but if you want to have a "back-up" i guess you can take supplements. Many vegetarians and vegans don't take supplements they just eat right.glad i could help. :)...Show more
Autumn Vacio: Basically all doctors are going to say take supplements, so they can keep the pharmacy going, but you honestly DO NOT need any supplements. If you are going vegetarian not vegan, then you will get plenty of B12 from dairy products, and also fortified beverages and meatless meats. As for iron, calcium, protein etc, all can be ! obtained through different vegetables and grains. Go to the peta website they have a vegetarian guide on there that I found really helpful. Its a lot healthier to obtain the vitamin from an actual food source than a supplement....Show more
Boris Hadsall: Well just ignore it. They will come around. Or explain, at great length why you want to do it.My boyfriend hates me being vegan and wants me to go back to being a vegetarian.. (he eats meat). It stinks b/c I really want my kids to be vegan but I know he will never allow it..
Coleman Petropoulos: it can be very dangerous to your health if you become a vegetarian and don't eat the proper vitamin's and stuff that your body needs... you need to be careful and make sure your eating enough starches/vitamins/etc... that's probably why it bothers them. or maybe they just don't agree with that choice of lifestyle?? It happens, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Chet Nozick: Both of them said relatively the sa! me thing. That being a vegetarian can be a good thing if I take the rig! ht steps.. They both said that if I choose to do so I need to take supplements, if I do not I will end up losing muscle mass and in the worst cause end up with a vitamin defenecy. My question is what vitamins and supplements do I need to take?
Raymon Fiene: If they're salted roasted peanuts they definitely wouldn't be good for you. If they're just raw peanuts they'd be ok. But all nuts are high in fat so like anything else if you take in a lot of calories that you aren't using. that's not good for you.
Marvella Benward: In 75% I'm vegan because I don't wan't animals to be tortured in farms and slaughterhouses. In 10% it's because I don't want them to be killed. Another 5% is health and good mood (I didn't think about it when I became vegan, but now, after 3.5 year, I fell that I'm healthier and I just feel better). 5% is also ecology. The last 5% is that I don't have much money (and meat is very expensive).
Jeff Frizzell: well with all the salt you might g! et a little dehydrated because the salt takes inn the water. But that won't affect you if you drink more then 3 glasses or if you don't eat more then around 500 gram.
Keneth Mailhot: You need to take a supplement that has vitamin B12. If you want more information on becoming a Vegan. You should check out this web site www.neal barnard.com. Click on 21- Day Vegan KickStart. He is a Doctor that has a program to become a Vegan. I have his book it is really good. It tells you step by step what to eat and how to maintain a healthy life style. Good Luck!
Timmy Bustard:
Delmy Varano: Are you sure that you are not reading something more into this than what it actually is? I cannot see any reason why som-one would begrudge you for your eating habits whether it's eating healthy or not...My girlfriend decided to become a vegeterian and I was happy for her but it was the "ATTITUDE" that she adapted with her choice of becoming "MEAT FREE" that bothered not only me but ! others as well....She just bragged and boasted about being a vegeterian ! so much that it was totally annoying because in her mind she was living healthier therefore making her better than her friends. But you know what? THE HEFFA is eating meat again and now she has dropped that superiority "thing" that she once had, making her a more likable person now....Please look within yourself to make sure that you are not the one who is causing your friend to be bothered....Just my suggestion....Thanks for allowing me to answer........Show more
Rosio Pasculli: As someone who has been vegetarian for over 11 years now, there are a lot of reasons why people express upset when others become vegetarian. In general, it boils down to fear. Usually, they are misinformed... everyone seems to know someone that said they were a vegetarian, possibly went about it without complete preparation, and then at the first sign of illness, vegetarianism was blamed. There are things like - most women of child-bearing age suffer from iron deficiency at one point or an! other, whether or not they are meat-eaters, but when a vegetarian is iron deficient it is assumed that they need to eat more meat.It also seems to call into question their long-standing beliefs, even if that's completely not your intention. I have spoken to many people over the years that tried to be vegetarians for one reason or another, often as children, who were discouraged from doing so by family members, and the arguments they put forth are the same ones that were used against them... like they are trying to process it and decide what they do and do not believe.I could continue but really I think what it comes down to is that you need to ask them what they are upset about so that you can specifically research what you need to in order to reassure them. There are many valid reasons for becoming a vegetarian and making healthy dietary decisions is definitely one of them! Vegetarians have a lower likelihood of developing such diseases as cancer, heart disease, diabete! s, obesity, etc., while accruing few risks of deficiencies. If you find ! you have more questions, feel free to ask!...Show more
Kelly Bistodeau: Too much of anything is bad for you. Peanuts do contain a lot of fat but, as long as you exercise, they are very healthy for you. They contain lots of protein. If they are salted peanuts, I would also be careful about eating TOO many because the sodium builds up, as well as the calories.Like anything else, it is best eaten in moderation. It's definitely healthy for you but, like anything else, don't over-do it....Show more
Antonia Boomershine: You don't really need supplements if you choose to eat well. Just keep in mind to eat some foods with protein and iron every day. If you still feel that you're missing some nutrients some days then take a daily multivitamin/multimineral. Protein supplements probably aren't necessary. If you want better advice than your doctors gave, speak to a real nutritionist (doctors aren't nutritionists).
Elden Bardach: When you eat differently than the res! t of your family and friends, it's a definite social rift. You are rocking the boat, and they are still in it. Food choice is so tied up in family culture. Even though you may be completely responsible for your own meals, they only see that you are choosing to separate yourself from what was once copasetic (sp?). It may also be causing them to examine their own eating habits, and that can lead to self-criticism that they are not ready for.I would try to get to the bottom of this person's objection, and then, if you can, move slowly into vegetrianism - a gradual approach is best for most people, anyway, for a properly balanced veggie diet is quite different than just eliminating meat and animal products. I was a vegetarian for about 15 years, then gradually shifted back to omnivore about 10 years ago. My spouse was quite upset recently when I told him I was thinking about eliminating red meat completely. He feels this will cut into his enjoyment of a good steak, which it pro! bably will, even though it's not logical. There's so much emotion surro! unding this. We have a right to eat as we choose, but the family situation needs to be handled "delicately", as the Wicked Witch of the West would say.GL...Show more
Gene Debell: I truly have no idea, and most people here will have no idea. The only person who has the answer is the family member who is upset.I think the main idea might be because they dont understand. If they were always in a meat eating enivorment, the idea of becoming a vegetarian is new. So just need to explain ur reasons for becoming a vegetarian and maybe make a wonderful veg dish to show them... Best of luck...Show more
Susan Rambo: I'm in it for health reasons. My cholesterol level was skyrocketing. When I had my blood work done at the lab, it came back with "cardiovascular risk" written across the top of the blood report. I don't have that problem anymore since I've been vegan.
Lou Ravelo: All things in moderation. Some peanuts are good for you. Too much of anything make you sic! k.What is it in the peanuts that you're craving? Maybe you are low on zinc? Is it the salt you are after?Throw some peanuts on top of a mixed greens salad - you'll get some peanutty taste, and some more nutrition. Or how about a whole wheat or ancient grains sandwich with peanut butter and jam, or a tablespoon of Molasses for a different taste (and a little iron.)If you're after salt, there may be something off with your liver. Drink a glass of water with your peanuts to make sure that you're not getting dehydrated from too much salt. Go see your doctor to get tested for your liver enzymes. (If you drink alcohol you may crave salt - quit the booze.)I hope this helps. If not, maybe you could give some more details?...Show more

Son Ahlers: You don't need supplements if you are eating the right vegetables for your body. Know your body first, then you can check which vegetables you should eat and what to avoid. I love vegetables, but i avoid beans, brocholi, cabbage and tomatoes because i have arthritis.
Berry Gilmore: Both actually. There is proof in science that vegetarianism/veganism is good for your health and that the average vegetarian/vegan lives 10 years longer than an omnivore. And then there is the side of compassion for other living creatures that have just as much a right to life as anyone....Show more
Sena Highman: I truly care about animals, and I believe that no living creatures should have to suffer. There are so many countless benefits of going vegan!Everything is better! You have more energy, less ache! s and pains...The list is endless!:)
Nedra Oltz: your doctors are quacks. almost every vitamin and mineral you need can be obtained from a vegetarian diet. technically if you plan to be a vegetarian who drinks milk, eats cheese/eggs all of them can be. b12 is the only vitamin not available via plant foods. it can be gotten from foritified cereals, fortified soymilk and nutritional yeast. iron can be a little scarce, depending on the food you eat. again, cereal and yeast can be a good source. garbanzo beans and leafy greens are also iron rich.the way non-meater eaters get complete proteins is through combining plant foods. grains plus beans or grains plus nuts. you don't have to eat them together. just within a day or two of each other. also eat lots of fruits and vegetables. but if you plan on drinking milk, eating cheese or eggs. all of this is moot. you'll sitll be getting b12 and iron. and plenty of protein.do more research about vegetarian/vegan diets on your own ! via the net. and find new doctors....Show more
Daren Ventrice: I ! workout three days per week at gym.I make, from scratch, soup daily that includes Tofu, Beans/ Lentils.I get a daily dose of one of the three mentioned... so i get my protein from an alternative source.Yes, beans are high in Proein and are natural .. I do not use pills ( supplements) I use purely natural sources......talk to another doctor ....
Dawn Saha: I've been vegetarian for 8 years and working on going vegan for a few months. By far, the primary reason I do it is because I am compassionate towards animals and I don't want to contribute to the pain and suffering of another living creature, especially when it's unnecessary. The added benefits for me are the health reasons, better for the environment, and it's less expensive. :-)
Bettye Arre: Probably B-12. You can get all others from plant based foods. You can even get B-12 from fortified soy milk, mock meats, seaweed, and nutritional yeast. But taking a supplement is a good idea if you're worried abou! t it.
Myesha Zerbe: sometimes
Inge Mclaurine: Vegans are people that are too lazy to exercise and think that just not eating meat will fix all their problems.
Ulrike Hert: They are upset because they are not Educated in this type of eating. Do your research & then you'll be able to put their mind at ease. Plus with time they will see you are healthier.
Alexander Villas: if you're eating peanuts by the truckload you're going to be fat as **** soon enough

Marty Tichnell: Whether you eat meat or do notWhat possible reason could a loved one (family, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc) have to be bothered by your personal choice to ! become a vegetarian? Especially if the choice did not effect them perso! nally (cooking, shopping, going out to eat, etc)?I need to put someone at ease about my choice and they seemed bothered by the decision. I'm not doing this for animal rights either, it's for health reasons. I just want to eat healthier. So why be upset?...Show more
Myesha Zerbe: Well, my main reason above all else is compassion for animals. The health thing (and environmental reasons as well) was just an added benefit I found out about afterwards.
Connie Dickirson: when my 8 year-old decide to become a vegetarian, I was worried (not upset) because she's not a big vegetable eater and I was worried about what she would eat. She does eat a salad every day, so I don't worry anymore
Delphine Cajka: How much is alot? a cup full? a bowl full? I wouldent think so
Denna Prudente: Only way I know is the nutrients.. you can't have too much of one thing. So, you would have to be eating a lot A LOT.. which I don't think you would be that hungry for nuts..
Tillie Wynott: I dont think so but in very hot countrys a mold called afflatoxin grows on old peanuts so I guess you will be fine as long as you only eat them before use by date.Carmelina Enoch: You don't need any. I have been vegetarian since the age of 9, I am now 15, recently vegan and have never taken supplements. You would think that I would be small and skinny, but i'm average height, rippling muscles (lol jk ), but I am quite strong, I just eat a lot of veg and proper food, I don't even try for a varied healthy diet, it just happens.
